When I decided to leave my full time position of Director Delivery Operations at Ideaforge Technology in 2021, a lot of people including my close family asked me ” What Next ? “
I genuinely had no answer about “What Next ” at that point of time.
It was very simple for me. I will explore different options to make an impact for next two years. I was very sure that something would work out. Worst case, I will earn “Zero money” and will spend my savings to survive these two years. It was worth taking the chance, as I really want to try something new as part of my professional career.
2+ Years have gone and I have rejected two serious discussions in last seven days to come back to full time corporate job.
Working full time is great, as you got your pay cheque every month. However, working as a consultant gives me freedom to choose my clients, projects, scope of the project etc. I can set your own boundaries the way I want those to be.
I can do whatever I feel is right, as I am not bound by any non-compete or other corporate clauses. I just need to be logical and ethical in the whole process.
It also provides me opportunity to meet and work with a lot of people from very different backgrounds. The exposure, discussions and learnings are very different compared to what we usually learn in our corporate lives.
So , what exactly I have done in last two years as part of my consulting assignments ?
• One-year project on designing and scaling manufacturing operations for a 500+ crore EMS organisation based out of Bangalore.
• Six-month project on setting up a world class factory and operations processes for a Robotics automation start up based out of Pune.
• Set up an in house state of the art SMT line for an OEM based out of Navi Mumbai.
• Setting up a green field EMS factory and business for a client in Ahmedabad.
• Working with a conglomerate on setting up the EMS business as new vertical.
• Set up supply chain for a global customer for PCBA, CNC, 3D, Wire harness, packing, composites and inspection services.
It has been a great ride for the last two years and there is a lot of personal satisfaction about what I have been able to achieve for myself and the manufacturing Industry in India.
I also believe, the best is yet to come and I am looking forward to even bigger projects in the coming years ahead.
