MSD – Moisture Densitive Devices

There are certain devices in electronics Industry, which are sensitive to absorb moisture once kept in the open condition. These devices once not protected from moisture can create quality and reliability issues after the reflow soldering processes.

Handling of MSD Components

MSD Components are categorised as per the sensitivity to moisture level and exposure which is allowed for these components before getting soldered. The MSL Levels are defined as below

If the components are exposed more than floor life of defined by the manufacturer, those must be based before used as per specifications.

Please find attached detailed procedure, which can be used to train operators, engineers on the shop floor for handling the MSD devices on the shop floor.
